The RVA Music Trifecta

My wife and I get out quite a bit and really enjoy good music of all types. There are those nights that are complete misses, where nothing clicks, you wrap up and go home after a short time out. Then there are those nights where the band, crowd and venue all agree and compliment each other perfectly. You find yourself immersed in an other-worldly experience. One that causes you to lose yourself in the moment and, many times, ending the night at an unusually late hour having had a completely wonderful time.

Then there is the RVA Music Trifecta!

A night when 3 great bands are playing at 3 great venues and are arranged in a way that you can get to see them all in the course of one night. This can be a truly fun experience and is what I refer to as an RVA Music Trifecta. We experienced our first RVA Music Trifecta was on a Friday night in February where we caught Andy Poxon (Capital Ale House), Doctors of Jazz (Rose Marie Inn) and finished with Barrelhouse (Home Team Grill). Our second experience was this past August, 24th to be exact, starting with Sportsbar Rockstar (Sunset Grill), Blues Flash (Rose Marie Inn) and finished, once again, with Barrelhouse (McCooks Lakeside Sports Grill). This Saturday we have a another one forming!

It is like a perfect alignment of the stars and maybe throw in a full moon, which is what will be occurring on September 29! It will start with the ever-grooving blues inspired dance tunes from Barrelhouse at the Hardywood Park Brewery at 5pm...then off to the Capital Ale House to spend some time dancing to the swing tunes of Cy Taggart at 8pm...We will then then finish the night with Sportsbar Rockstar, trying to catch them in the middle of one of their infamous dance sets at Rock Falls Tavern at about 10:30pm!

Having been around some of the larger cities in the country, there are not many that offer you the opportunities for this type of evening. We will be doing our best to hit each one and we hope to see you out there! Stop us and say Hi, or better yet join us on the dance floor!

The Bush League and The Michael Clark Band Light Up the Capital Ale House in Richmond, VA

Second try at Mujaddara is a charm...

Our family has been vacationing in the Myrtle Beach, SC area for about 55 years or so. During that time we have stayed in cottages, small hotels, big motels, resorts and rental homes. This year (2018) w hile visiting Garden City, SC , I had made it a point to get to two restaurants that interested me while planning the trip. Designing A Mobile Chicken Coop and a Software Epiphany

I had, what I call, a software epiphany on Sunday morning and it goes like this. As a part of my suburban homesteading project, I want to add a few chickens. Therefore I have been Googling chicken tractors, chicken coops, chicken houses, and practically chicken anything in order to come up with some plans to build a somewhat mobile chicken coop.
